It’s time for all of us to “Stake Your Claim to the Arts!”
It’s always a busy time for our area’s arts organizations. It has also been a busy several months for the BAAC. We are working to bring all these great organizations together and promote the Beatrice area as a hub for arts, culture and entertainment.
Beginning this fall we have held a series of meetings with the leaders of arts and cultural organizations and arts-related businesses to see how we can improve our community. This has resulted in several exciting initiatives and a new awareness campaign.
The campaign plays off the City of Beatrice new slogan, “Stake Your Claim”. We have developed “Stake Your Claim to the Arts.” On our Facebook page we have launched the hashtag #StakeYourClaimToTheArts and encourage everyone who posts on social media to use it and showcase the wonderful variety of things happening in our area.
We have also revamped the calendar section of our website. Now organizations can directly post their events to our website. It is also now easier for everyone to find out what’s happening. Our hope is that this calendar will become the new central resource for finding out about entertainment and cultural happenings.
We are working on additional promotional events for all our arts and cultural partners. Keep watching for these in the coming months.
Working with the Beatrice Area Chamber and Gage County Tourism we installed hanging hardware in the Carnegie Building downtown and are coordinating the display of art work in the building. We have already had local student art work, area photographers and a touring Nebraska exhibit. Be sure to stop by the Carnegie Building and see what’s on display!
Of course we continue to have success with our existing programs. Joseph and Sue Martin entertained our biggest crowd in several years at the Hevelone Center this January. Mark your calendars for our free summer concerts that will be held at various venues around the community in collaboration with the Beatrice Community Band.
Stake your claim to all the wonderful arts and cultural offerings in our community. These events won’t continue without your support. It’s an exciting time for the BAAC and we hope you stake your claim to that excitement!
